Seaweed Appreciation Society International artists Jessie French and Lichen Kelp have been busy in lockdown with Science Gallery Melbourne making some DIY workshops that are now online as part of National Science Week.

Lichen and Jessie also did an Instagram live Q&A with Claire from Science Gallery Melbourne on 19 August, 2020. You can watch the video of their chat about SASi, their research on agar in Morocco earlier in the year, speculative futures, seaweed cocktails and bioplastic here.

Special thanks to Janni Cox for filming these videos; Madeline Bishop for editing; Nowish for the music on the bioplastic video and Dylan Martorell for the music on the cocktail video; BASF - who sent us the beta-carotene harvested from pink lake alage which we used to make the orange bioplastic and cocktail featured in the video; and Science Gallery Melbourne for making it all possible, despite many obstacles presented by the current pandemic.
